5 Morning Rituals to Kickstart Your Day

How you rise in the morning has the power to set the tone for the rest of your day.

Sometimes our responsibilities in life can take priority, but this is by far the most important stage of our day, and taking the time to centre ourselves before we begin to exchange our energy with the rest of the world can work wonders for how we think, feel, and move through our day.

Imagine you’re hitting the gym today, you’ve been working your sweet behind off to hit this next goal. You’re gonna need to be using your full body for this one, and it’s gonna be an intense workout!

Do you jump straight into your workout, or do you take the time to limber up? Stretching and warming up your muscles, while preparing your mind for your workout is a lot like how we should connect with ourselves to get in the flow first thing in the morning.

Incorporating these mindful habits into your waking routine can help you feel more energized, focused, and positive and I can 100% guarantee that if you perform these over the next couple weeks that you will feel better for it.

But don’t just take my word for it, try it for yourself!

Here are our five simple yet powerful habits you need to prioritise to have a better start to your day:

1. Get in Direct Sunlight

One of the best ways to wake up your body and mind is to step into natural sunlight as soon as you wake up. Exposure to sunlight helps regulate your circadian rhythm, which is your body’s internal clock. This not only helps improve your mood but also enhances your alertness. Just a few minutes of sunlight can boost your Vitamin D levels and signal your body that it’s time to start the day.

2. Go Outside and Breathe Fresh Air

While soaking in some sunlight, take a moment to intentionally breathe in the fresh air. Deep breathing increases oxygen levels in your blood, which can invigorate your body and clear your mind. Spending a few moments outside can also reduce stress levels and make you feel more connected to nature. Whether it’s your backyard, a balcony, or a nearby park, find a spot where you can enjoy a few deep breaths.

3. Engage in Light Exercise or Stretching

Starting your day with light exercise or stretching is a fantastic way to boost your energy levels and enhance your mood. You don’t need to engage in a vigorous workout; a 15-minute walk, gentle yoga, or simple stretching exercises can suffice. Physical activity and stretching stimulate the release of endorphins, the feel-good hormones, and get your blood flowing, preparing your body and mind for the day ahead.

4. Drink Water with Pink Salt

Hydration is key to feeling your best throughout the day. Drinking a glass of water with a pinch of pink salt in the morning can help replenish electrolytes and kickstart your metabolism. Pink salt contains essential minerals like magnesium, calcium, and potassium, which can aid in balancing your body’s pH levels and improving hydration. This simple drink can give you a refreshing start and help you stay hydrated.

5. Avoid Your Phone for the First 30 Minutes

In today’s digital age, it’s tempting to reach for your phone as soon as you wake up. However, spending at least the first 30 minutes of your day without digital distractions can have a profound impact on your mental clarity and overall well-being. Instead, sit with your thoughts and be in your own energy. This quiet time allows you to set your intentions for the day, practice mindfulness, and prepare mentally for the tasks ahead. By delaying your screen time, you give yourself the space to start the day on a calm and positive note.
